1. Introduction
This Data Sources and Attribution Standard describes the categories of data sources used in MyWaypoint products, the methodology applied to collect and process that data, and the attribution standards we follow.
Product-specific source details are described in the applicable product addenda.
2. Source Categories
MyWaypoint products use data from the following categories of sources:
- Public records — government registries, licensing bodies, corporate registries, land title records, and other public administrative records
- Government datasets — open data portals, Statistics Canada releases, municipal open data, provincial government publications
- Licensed third-party data — data licensed from third-party providers under applicable terms
- User-submitted data — information submitted by users or businesses through our products (such as retailer updates on legal-cannabis.ca)
- Web-sourced data — publicly accessible information collected from websites using lawful methods
We do not collect personal information for inclusion in our business datasets. We do not access private or access-controlled systems.
3. Verification Methodology
Our data collection and processing methodology follows a structured approach:
- Source Discovery — research available public sources relevant to the dataset; evaluate accessibility, completeness, and lawfulness
- Feasibility Assessment — assess whether the dataset is buildable given available sources, scope, and legal considerations
- Data Acquisition — collect data using appropriate methods: direct download, API access, structured extraction, or manual extraction
- Data Normalization — clean and standardize raw data; enforce consistent data types, encoding, and formatting
- Deduplication — identify and resolve duplicate records; document deduplication logic
- Field Standardization — normalize field values to consistent formats; map category values to unified taxonomies
- Geographic Enrichment — where applicable, enrich location data with geographic identifiers using authoritative public reference data
- Quality Review — review for coverage, accuracy, internal consistency, and alignment with scope; produce quality assurance report
- Delivery and Documentation — deliver dataset with data dictionary, source list, and quality assurance report
4. Attribution Standards
When referencing limited excerpts from MyWaypoint data externally, attribution must be provided as follows:

Attribution does not imply endorsement by My Waypoint Technologies Inc.
Third-party data sources used in our products are disclosed in the applicable product addenda and in our Vendor and Subprocessor Disclosure.
5. Limitations
My Waypoint Technologies Inc. makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, currency, validity, suitability, or fitness for a particular purpose of any information contained within its datasets or services.
Data may change frequently. Business records, licensing status, contact information, locations, and other dataset attributes may become outdated, incomplete, or incorrect. You should verify important information before relying on it.
